Mission and Vision

LIBRARY MISSION:
To provide students the tools to effectively use the resources and learning opportunities provided in the library.

LIBRARY VISION:
The library is a place where imagination and reality work together to open the door to knowledge,
information, exploration and reading for pleasure. The library provides
the materials to satisfy the research and educational needs
of our students.
 
 

More activities promoting reading at Winter Gardens Elementary

 
Parent Lending Library
Parents are allowed to check out library materials.
 
Read Aloud Day:
Winter Gardens Elementary celebrates Reading in March, which has been designated as our “I Love to Read Books Month.” We invite special guests (MUSD representatives, parents, volunteers, and people from the community) to read aloud to our students.
 
Scholastic Book Fair:
Children have the opportunity to add to their home libraries by purchasing books at the book fair twice a school year.
 
Bookmobile
A bookmobile regularly comes to our school for class visits, during which students may check out books and experience other activities.

Procedure

Weekly Visits
-Students in Head Start, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are allowed to check out one book per week.
 
-Students in 3rd , 4th and 5th grades are allowed to check out two books every week and one renewal. The pre-school students in the Adult Education program also have access to the library resources.
 
-Fees for lost and damaged books are: $6.00 for hardcover books and $3.00 for paperback books.
 
On a yearly basis, parents sign an agreement notification regarding overdue fees.
